Course Description: In this course, we will explore how to create an impactful activities list for the Common Application. Utilizing successful Ivy League examples, students will learn to concisely articulate their extracurricular involvement with maximum effect. We will cover what qualifies as an activity, the art of condensation, meticulous detailing, strategic ordering, and aligning the list with the student's profile. Course Objectives: ● By the end of this course, students will: ● Understand what types of experiences can be included in the activity list. ● Learn the skill of compressing descriptions into the 150-character limit without losing impact. ● Recognize the importance of specific details in differentiating their activities. ● Be able to order and rank activities to highlight your strengths strategically. ● Develop an activities list that complements and enhances their overall application narrative. Course Contents: ● Identifying Qualifiable Activities: Academic, Volunteering, Sports, Arts, and More ● How do I “squeeze” an activity into 150 characters? ● Significance of Detailing: Making Each Character Count ● Rephrasing Your Activities for Impact ● Prioritizing and Sequencing Activities ● Taking the “big picture” into consideration, how well does the list serve your overall profile?
